Rahu calculated as amatyakaraka

I’m new to vedic astrology, and the vedic astrologers who have read my chart don’t count Rahu as amatyakaraka. How do I change the calculation so that Rahu/Ketu don’t count? I want to stick with the basics for now, and follow the astrologers I’ve talked to.
